You don’t need fancy equipment or a barista badge to enjoy really good coffee at home.
But when your beans come from a place filled with intention, care, and story—like Misma Lani—how you brew them becomes part of that story too.
Slow down. Savor your cup. There’s something special about being part of the process.
Here’s how to brew our coffee in a way that does justice to everything behind it—whether you’re a pour-over pro or just getting started.
🌋 Start with the basics: freshness, grind, and water
1. Freshly roasted beans
Our coffee is roasted in small batches and shipped whole bean to preserve freshness and flavor. For the best results, grind your coffee just before brewing. This keeps the aromatics and oils fresh.
2. Choose the right grind
-
French Press: Coarse grind (think sea salt)
-
Pour Over / Drip: Medium grind (like sand)
-
Espresso: Fine grind (almost powdery)
If you're not sure, a medium grind is a safe and versatile place to start.
3. Filtered water, not boiling
Use filtered water heated to about 195–205°F (just below boiling). Water quality plays a huge role in how your coffee tastes—coffee begins with the bean, but it lives in the water.
☕️ Brewing Methods We Love
1. Pour Over (Chemex or V60)
A slow, mindful way to brew that brings out the delicate notes in our Celeste roast. Expect a clean, balanced cup with floral and cacao hints.
How:
-
Use a 1:18 ratio (1 gram of coffee per 18 grams of water)
-
Bloom the coffee by pouring a small amount of hot water first (about 40 grams) and allow it to bloom for 30 seconds.
-
Slowly pour the rest in circles over 3 minutes
2. French Press
Great for bold, full-bodied brews. It brings out deeper notes—especially in our darker roasts.
How:
-
Same ratio of coffee.
-
Steep for 4 minutes, then press slowly about halfway down to not disturb sediment.
-
Pour out all the coffee at the 4 minute mark to prevent over-extraction.
3. Auto Drip Machine
Sometimes, simplicity wins. Just make sure your water is clean and your machine is regularly cleaned. Our beans will still shine.
How:
-
Use a medium grind
-
Filtered water
Turn it into a ritual
Brewing coffee doesn’t have to be just a rushed cup on your way out the door.
Let it be a pause. A grounding moment. A tiny act of intention.
Say a thank you—to the land, to the hands, to yourself.
Because this coffee isn’t just about caffeine.
It’s about connection—to your morning, to your rhythm, and to the people who made your cup possible.
Bonus: Our Favorite Pairings
-
Celeste Roast (Medium): celeste shines alongside a simple breakfast—think sourdough, tropical fruit, or warm pastries.
-
Nochebuena Roast (Dark): Prefer a little cream? Nochebuena welcomes it. That contrast brings out the roast’s deeper notes in all the right ways.
-
Natural Process Lots: Light and tea-like, fruity notes of rich molasses and tangy hibiscus to sip on on it's own.
☕️ Your cup, your way
However you brew it, however you enjoy it—thank you.
Thank you for taking the time. Thank you for making it matter.
And thank you for honoring the story in every bean.
