From Soil to Sip: The Journey of a Misma Lani Coffee Bean

From Soil to Sip: The Journey of a Misma Lani Coffee Bean

At Misma Lani, every cup tells a story—one that starts long before the roast, and long before your morning ritual. It begins with soil. With sun. With intentional hands working a hillside in Kona, Hawaiʻi.

This is the journey of our coffee bean. And like most things we care about, it takes time, heart, and humility.

🌱 It starts with land that gives

Our coffee is grown on our 5-acre farm on the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano. At 1,200 feet above sea level, the environment gives us everything we need—volcanic soil rich in minerals, sunny island mornings and light rain showers in the afternoons.

Good land is a responsibility, not just a gift. We walk our rows every day, knowing each tree and every curve of the terrain. We give thanks often—because the ʻāina doesn’t just grow our beans; it shapes them.

🍒 Every cherry, handpicked with purpose

Hawai‘i’s terrain makes machinery impractical—and so every step of the harvest is done by hand.

Every cherry is picked by people who know the difference between almost-ready and just right. Timing matters. Ripeness matters. And respecting the plant’s natural rhythm is how we ensure flavor, depth, and quality.

It’s not fast. But that’s the point. Good things take time, and great coffee is no exception.

🌞 Milled and sun-dried on-site

Once picked, our cherries are processed right on the farm. We pulp, wash, and carefully dry the beans in the sun, turning them regularly to ensure even drying.

These are the perks of operation our own coffee processing mill. We stay close to the process, where every detail—every step—adds to what you’ll eventually taste in your cup.

🔥 Roasted with craft and care

We don’t roast our beans ourselves. We leave that part to people we trust deeply: Pacific Coffee Research, a women-owned roastery in Hawaiʻi.

They roast in small batches, working closely with us to highlight the unique notes of each lot—whether it’s a medium roast bursting with bright citrus, floral jasmine, and nutty undertones, or a darker roast offering rich cocoa, toasted caramel, and deep earthy warmth. Their craft completes ours.

This partnership is rooted in mutual respect. We do our part on the farm. They do theirs in the roastery. Together, we create something beautiful.

🤎 Sealed, shared, and sipped with soul

From there, our coffee is packed by hand, labeled with care, and shipped straight from the Big Island. When it arrives in your home, it’s more than a product. It’s the result of a full year of work, generations of wisdom, and a quiet belief that the everyday should be cherished.

Because we don’t just grow coffee. We grow connection.
And your cup is part of that story now.
